Stillwater 2013
Another epic wilderness trip with my friend Peter. Armed with canoe, camping gear, and a boatload of drinking water, we floated/paddled the last 52 miles of the Green River through Canyonlands National Park, ending two miles below the confluence with the Colorado. From there, we spent a day on the rim, exploring the Dollhouse area of The Maze district, then ended with a 60 mile jetboat ride up the Colorado to Moab, UT. For dessert, we spent the final day hiking all over Arches National Park. Unfortunately, my choice of camera (Olympus Stylus Tough) runs only on rechargeable batteries, so the two times when it decided to crap out, I had no Plan B. Lost all of The Dollhouse, and most of Arches. In fairness to the camera, I also dropped it into quicksand, and it came out and cleaned up just fine. After the hike out to Delicate Arch, we also took in Sand Dune Arch, Skyline Arch, Tunnel Arch, Pine Tree Arch, Landscape Arch, Partition Arch, the ruins of Wall Arch, Navajo Arch, Double O Arch, Private Arch, and Double Arch.
