hayope > Really cool dragon sculpture in the courtyard of the old Chinese Assembly Hall in Hoi An. The sculpture was huge, with 10 or more interlocked dragons, of which you only see two here. Like many such artworks in Vietnam, the "tiles" used for the mosaic work are actually broken pieces of ceramic cups, dishes, bowls, etc.
hayope > Sid doubles down on the Bia Saigon, while Barry contemplates the same.
hayope > My new friend Mal from Australia, with his very cool yellow Nimbus 36. Our support bus in the background.
hayope > Loading the unicycles on top of a riverboat in Hoi An, in preparation for our trip down and across river. The process started with the local boatmen doing the loading, but it soon became apparent they had no direct experience in loading 26 unicycles for a journey, so some of the riders had to take over and (literally) straighten things out. Our tour leader Jason is in green at left, then my roomie Christof in the coolie hat, then the local boatmen, and finally Nathan in yellow entering from stage left, to assure final quality control over the process.
hayope > All the other riders check out the loading process to ensure their unis don't get trashed.
hayope > Local boatman with Andy's unicycle. He looks like he's ready to mount, but that was not the case.
hayope > L to R: Mal (Australia), Hans (Austria), Barry (Australia), Hannah (Austria), Heather (Canada) on the riverboat in Hoi An. Hans and Hannah were the other Father-Kid duo on the tour.
hayope > Our guide Hoai demonstrates perfect form stepping onto the front of the riverboat. Local girl contemplates whether she could be so graceful.
hayope > Our riverboat out of Hoi An, once all the unicycles were properly loaded onto the roof. Photo: M. Bird
