JC's Birthday Ride - hayope's Photos

July 14, 2008. Me, Harper, JC do a little urban ride in celebration of JC's 4xth birthday. It was a great day of exploration with fantastic riding weather. Our first espresso stop was less than a kilometer into the pedaling, which pretty much set the tone for the day. Espresso to start, Drawbridge Blond to finish, and plenty of coffee, gelato, and blackened salmon sandwich in between. Oh yeah, and we rode a few miles too...

hayope > Today was as good as it gets for a leisurely lap around Green Lake. Bikes, rollerblades, strollers, bikinis, tattoos, unicycles. Not sure how we ended up here, since we could have been riding 120 miles in the "Seattle to Portland" instead, as our colleague Bruce was doing.

hayope > JC, practicing his Crane Kick under the watchful eye of crane mural. A week ago, the crane was covered by a thick coat of grey paint. Some SNAFU with the city led to the painting-over of two huge mural panels on the walls of an underpass near the Woodland Park Zoo. The citizenry rightly went apeshit over it, and some careful evaluation of multiple cleaning techniques ultimately led to a method for removing the overcoat, which was done this past week.
