hayope  > Unicycling Photos > Espresso Training in Farm Country
JC and TB ride JC's age out through farm country of Western Washington. Lots of corn, cows, roadkill, and of course, e s p r e s s o. The occassion? We needed a "proper 40" so that JC could ride his age. Of course we stuck with JC's rule of thumb: one espresso every 10 miles, whether you need it or not.

hayope > Espresso #1 - Pre-ride in Issaquah Starbucks
hayope > JC coaching on the importance of wearing kneepads with hard plastic covers, not cloth, so they will slide when you faceplant.
hayope > Downtown Fall City, getting ready to ride. Snoqualmie River in the background.
hayope > JC compares his wheel against a really big steel Penny Farthing. Not sure what the purpose of it is, as it's anchored in, probably weighs a ton, is un-rideable, and there is no bike shop nearby.
hayope > Perhaps the iron Penny Farthing is an advertisement for the RV and Boat place. "Get an RV...it's faster than this thing!" "Get a boat...it will float, unlike this thing!"
hayope > Espresso #2 - Carnation Starbucks. We got the fancy cups, since we promised not to ride away with them.
hayope > The original Carnation Farm, where they made Carnation evaporated and condensed milk. So popular once upon a time, that the little town of Tolt decided to rename itself to Carnation. More recently, the farm has been owned by Nestle, which uses it as a regional training center. Most recently, it's been acquired by Paul Newman's "Hole in the Wall" association, which will be turning it into a Hole in the Wall Camp for children with life-threatening and chronic illnesses.
hayope > It's prime blackberry season along the farm roads of western Washington. Mmmm, blackberries.
hayope > Yep, yer in Duvall.
